Always a pet lover growing up, Dr. Altrogge had dogs, cats, birds, pocket pets and fish of her own. She attended undergraduate school and veterinary college at Iowa State University and practiced small animal medicine and surgery first in Wisconsin and Illinois before coming to settle in Michigan in 1991.
Sharon became interested in offering a more personalized, home-based service to busy families or individuals with one or more domestic pets that would benefit from having their doctor come to them. Thus, Home Health Care For Pets was established in 1998 as a mobile veterinary practice. In 2004 she expanded her diagnostic and surgical capabilities through the opening of a facility in Hamburg Township.
Dr. Altrogge’s family includes a son, a Labrador named Cole, cat Ceili, and Murray, a yellow slider turtle. Her outside interests are singing and playing harp, community theater, outdoor activities, church volunteering and mentoring young people.
